A survey about ethical workplace conduct in Finland and Sweden

Helge Kvamme is a co-founder of the new Nordic Business Ethics Network (NBEN), established in early 2019 together with Kvammes two Finnish colleagues, Niina Ratsula and Anna Romberg. NBEN was created out of passion towards business ethics by three professionals who have worked for decades in various roles and projects with a mission to promote sustainable business conduct. This initiative is based on the belief that there is a need for a transparent dialogue around the challenges and opportunities relating corporate conduct, ethics and integrity.

Our Mission

Promote a transparent dialogue around the challenges and opportunities relating corporate conduct, ethics and integrity.

Our Purpose

Share best practices, challenges and lessons learned the learned the hard way when promoting and working with ethics and compliance. Facilitate an honest dialogue between officers from various companies with the purpose to advance corporate conduct as well as ethics and integrity at work at large.

Main Target Group

Officers from businesses with a desire to share and learn practices around ethics and compliance. E.g Compliance and Legal Officers, Internal Audit Chiefs and Managers, Internal Control Managers.

The first result of this new Network, is the The Nordic Business Ethics Survey 2019, a pioneering survey into employees’ views on ethics across multiple business sectors and job roles.

Employee perception of ethics in the workplace is a key indicator of an organization's ethical climate. The mission of Nordic Business Ethics survey is to understand the employee perceptions towards ethics at work in Finland, Sweden and Norway.

What is the survey about?

Nordic Business Ethics Survey will look into employees’ views on ethics across multiple business sectors and job roles. The Survey will ask employees e.g. the following type of questions:

  • What types of unethical behaviors have you experienced or witnessed at work?

  • Do you feel comfortable of speaking up of a potential misconduct?

  • Does your company reward for ethical behavior?

The full set of questions will be available in the final study report, which we will publish in April 2019. The results will be published in Oslo on April 8, 2019 in a cooperation with ICC Norge - The International Chamber of Commerce.
