New Norwegian and EU law on supply chain transparency and mandatory due diligence

2021_New_EU_law_on_mandatory_due_diligence_seminar.jpg

Join our webinar on the subject Supply Chain Due Diligence and reporting. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the proposal by the Norwegian Government and European Commission on the new supply chain transparency and due diligence requirements. You will also gain practical insight on how companies report on supply chain and undertake due diligence practices. The webinar is hosted by GRI and Kvamme Associates in partnership.

On 10 March the EU parliament adopted a legislative initiative report for a law on mandatory due diligence in supply chains. The report introduces mandatory due diligence to ensure supply chains do not include environmental or human rights violations and calls for fines and sanctions for those found breaching the rules. It also demands better access to justice for victims in third countries. The EU Commission is expected to legislate a binding due diligence directive by June.

On 9 April the Norwegian Government initiated a proposal for a new law on transparency in the supply chain. The proposal suggests that corporations should have good oversight and control of potential severe negative impacts on human and labour rights in their supply chain. Entities are also expected to be transparent about such impacts and how these are managed to reduce negative consequences.

In our seminar you will hear practical examples on supply chain due diligence from Statkraft, Norsk Hydro and the Norwegian Government Pension Fund Global.
